POS with a DVR
Question: How can I connect a Point of Sales (POS) or Cash Register System to a DVR to capture the text information?
Answer: Point Of Sale
Most of our DVR’s can accept POS information and can display it on the screen. Please refer to your specific DVR’s manual to confirm its abilities.
The cash register must be capable of outputting ASCII text on a RS232 port. Check with the POS provider to confirm its abilities.
You will need to connect a null modem from DVR to POS computer.
NOTE – RS232 CABLES CAN’T EXCEED 50FT IN LENGHT
Contact the POS manufacturer to get instructions on how to setup the RS232 port on the cash register.
To setup the text input on the DVR go into the menu and to text-in.
Set the Port to the type of port that you will use such as RS232.

Go into the Setup and configure the Port Setup to match the POS equipment.

Set the Transaction Start, Transaction End, Line Delimiter and other settings to match the POS system.
After matching the settings save them and exit the menu. Bring the camera that has the text associated with it full screen and you should see text when a transaction is made at the register.
